Project Title

The scope of the Project relates to the modernization of the Control Centers of Distribution Networks (CCDN) of the remaining three Regions (*), through the installation of a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System - Data Management System (SCADA - DMS), and the communication equipment with the Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) at the High Voltage/ Medium Voltage (HV/MV) Substations and the establishment of the necessary support infrastructures of the three uniform CCDNs.

Benefits

The benefits expected from the implementation of this Project are related to:

  • the improvement of the reliability of the Network in Continental Greece (apart from Attica), the quality indices and the detection of the weak spots of the Network
  • resource gathering and saving, more effective human resources management during faults and better and faster restoration of outages
  • the decrease of the loading of the facilities in increased demand periods and the restriction of power and energy losses in the Network
  • the upgrading of the management possibilities of Networks, studies and training of the relevant staff
Project Progress
 

The Project is expected to be finished by the end of 2021. As of December 2019, 43% of the Project was completed. More specifically, the studies for the upgrade of the Network Control Center in the Department of Macedonia-Thrace Region (DM&TR) and the creation of new Network Control Centers in the Department of Epirus & Peloponnese Region (DE&PR) and the Department of Central Greece Region (DCGR) have been completed. The integration of the Katerini Area (Medium Voltage network) in the upgraded Network Control Center of the DE&PR has also been completed, as well as the initiation of the full operation of the Network Control Center in the DCGR including the Medium Voltage Networks of Lamia’s, the Makrakomi’s and Amfissa’s Areas. The site acceptance tests (SATs) of the new SCADA-DMS are also completed by the end of December 2019 (earlier than it was planned). The installation works of the new RTUs(*) at the High/ Medium Voltage Substations are in progress (48%).
