Upgrading of remote control equipment in regional Networks
Project TitleThe Scope of the Project relates to the supply and installation of modern remotely controlled elements at overhead Medium Voltage (MV) Grids and Medium Voltage/ Low Voltage (MV/LV) Substations which shall be connected with the Regional Control Centers of Distribution Networks and shall be managed by them. |

Benefits
The benefits expected from the implementation of this Project are related to:
- the improvement of the energy quality index System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI), through the remote control of the remotely controlled elements on the MV Network
- the decrease of the operational cost of HEDNO due to the restriction of the need for on site management, the decrease of the use of crews etc
- the increase of the reliability of the Network due to the possibility of prompt intervention in vital elements of the critical conditions to be handled
- the restriction of power and energy losses in the Networks
Project Progress
The Project is expected to be finished in the 3rd quarter of 2023. By December 2019, 31% of the Project was completed. More specifically, the procurement processes were completed and the supply contracts were signed for the remotely controlled network components such as Load Break Switches and Automatic Circuit Re-closers for overhead MV grids. The procurement processes for the supply of the Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and Power Failure Indicators for the indoor Medium/Low Voltage Substations have been cancelled and they are going to be re-proclaim. In progress are installation works of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and Power Failure Indicators for the indoor Medium/Low Voltage Substations gained from prior supplies. |
