HEDNO has offered its support to the 'journey of culture', to be concluded next month, that involves islands of PSO-routes and is part of an extraordinary cultural and educational project organized by the non-profit civil society ‘Agoni Grammi Gonimi’.
The project, which is implemented under the aegis of the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, and has the support of the European Union and the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece was first launched in 2007. By the end of 2015 over 350 visits to 37 islands had taken place, with the focal point being the equal access to education and culture for everyone, regardless of place of residence.
In 2016, HEDNO will be participating in the project that will unfold from January to June and that includes 20 thematic workshops (education, music, pottery, jewelry, mosaic creation, cinematography, physical education, dance, creative writing, and other), and 7 concerts (Solo singers of the Greek National Opera, Musical Ensembles of the Athens State Orchestra) on fourteen islands of the Aegean Sea (Irakleia, Schinoussa, Koufonissia, Thirassia, Kimolos, Patmos, Arkioi, Leipsoi, Tilos, Halki, Apeiranthos on the island of Naxos, Antiparos, Kythira and Antikythira).
HEDNO connects all corners of Greece through energy, being the field-specific responsible body for energy systems on the Non-Interconnected Islands. HEDNO’s active involvement and support in cultural and educational projects reaching each and every remote area in Greece are a priority of the HEDNO’s CSR strategy.
