In its consistent strategy to get actively engaged in the protection of storks, HEDNO contributed critically to have the village of Poros in Evros designated 'European Village of Storks'.

EuroNature European Foundation has awarded the title of European Village of Storks to Poros early in June. This award is the recognition of the multi-annual monitoring and protection of the species in the Evros Delta wetland.

HEDNO has built a close cooperation with the Evros Delta National Park Management and has been actively involved in the efforts made for the protection of all birds in the area.

Both parties have joined forces to implement actions such as attaching rings and transmitters, setting up and repairing artificial nests and drawing insulated cables in the Network to prevent electrocution.

The protection of the most important wetland of Evros Delta will remain a priority for HEDNO given that a fundamental axis in the CSR strategy adopted by the Company is to contribute, actively and substantially to the protection of flora and fauna of our country.
