PoweR-LIBS
Remote LIBS for real-time field assessment of the operational characteristics of polymeric insulators on high voltage power transmission lines
Project Code: Τ2ΕΔΚ-02717 (ΜIS 5131360)
Period: 29/7/2021 - 28/11/2023
Abstract
Project PoweR-LIBS is a collaborative effort among HEDNO (the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator) three research organizations (FORTH, Hellenic Mediterranean University and University of Patras) and two companies (Raymetrics, LamadaTech) with the aim to upgrade monitoring procedures over the overhead power line distribution network. The proposed research focuses on the development of innovative tools suitable for the remote monitoring of composite insulators on high voltage power lines, combining cutting edge technologies related to the study of composite materials used in energy applications, optics and lasers for remote sensing, machine learning methods for data processing and analysis and robotics. The proposed research is expected to produce innovation at several ends. In the research organizations (FORTH, HMU, U of Patras) through the development of know-how on the application of advanced optical diagnostic techniques and computational tools. In the companies, in relation to the design and production of innovative diagnostic systems (RAYMETRICS, LAMDA) and their introduction as new methodologies for power line insulator diagnostics (HEDNO).
