GRIDSOL’s vision is to develop a pioneering power plant configuration with high RES penetration, where the plant would be able to provide ancillary grid services and to be considered a must run unit for the system, hence to be able to provide guaranteed power.

GRIDSOL aims to provide secure, clean and efficient electricity by combining primary renewable energy sources and technology under an advanced control system called Dynamic Output Manager of Energy (DOME) supplying secure electricity and contributing to grid stability through Smart Renewable Hubs.

GRIDSOL power plant combines a core of synchronous and non-synchronous generators under a dynamic control system (DOME). The control system of the electricity dispatch is self-regulated and able to provide ancillary grid services thanks to firm and flexible generation on a single output, tailored to a specific location and relieving pressure on the TSO.

The project’s target:

GRIDSOL’s power plant includes RES (solar thermal, PVs and wind power) combined with a conventional unit (Gas turbine) and an appropriate storage system (thermal and electrical storage) with an advanced control system (DOME).
GRIDSOL’s target is to achieve a power plant with high RES penetration, appropriate storage system and the necessary control system, which will be the optimum solution in terms of combination of different technologies and cost.
GRIDSOL’s feasibility studies will focus both on the interconnected and non interconnected network, in order to take into account all the aspects.
